Project Server Tips

You receive the "Error when creating site. Site does not seem to exist" in Project Server 2003

SYMPTOMS:

Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services subsites are not created automatically when you publish projects to Microsoft Office Project Server 2003. If you try to manually create a Windows SharePoint Services subsite, you receive the following error message:

"Error when creating site. Site does not seem to exist."

This problem occurs if there is not an e-mail address in the Site Owner field on the Site Provisioning Settings page in the Manage Windows SharePoint Services section of Project Web Access (PWA).

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

1. Log on to PWA with administrator rights.
2. Click the Admin link.
3. Click the Manage Windows SharePoint Services link.
4. Click the Site Provisioning Settings link.
5. Enter a valid e-mail address in the Site Owner field.

If you need to create a WSS site for your project manually, you can follow these steps:

1. Login to Project Web Access with Administrator privileges.
2. Select "Admin".
3. Select "Manage Windows SharePoint Services".
4. Select the Project for which you want to create a WSS site in the grid.
5. Click "Create Site" in the toolbar.
