You Receive an Error Message Saying That PJDBComm.dll is Blocked

SYMPTOMS:

When you try to connect to Project Server from Project Pro, you receive the following error message:

"The following file(s) have been blocked by the administrator: /isapi/pjdbcomm.dll"

There are several causes for this behavior.

One cause is if you do not have SOAPIS30.dll, MSADSC.dll, and PJDBComm.dll files enabled in IIS.

To correct this, do the following:

1. Open IIS, and scroll down to the Folder "Web Service Extensions".

2. Select this folder and you will see a number of Web Service extensions listed on the right and whether they are prohibited or allowed.

3. Check the Web Server Extensions settings for "MS Office Project Server 2003 ISAPI" by right-clicking this entry and clicking on "Properties".

4. Select the "Required Files" tab and make sure that you have the files SOAP, MSADSC.dll and PJDBComm.dll marked as "allowed".

5. If they are not allowed, then set them to "allowed" status by selecting each file and clicking on the "Allow" button.

Another possible cause is if Anonymous Access is not turned on for PJDBComm.dll.

To enable Anonymous Access for PJDBComm.dll, follow these steps on your Project Server 2003 server:

1. Start Microsoft Internet Information Services Manager (IIS).

To do this, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

2. Click to expand your server/local computer.

3. Next, locate the Web Sites node, and click to expand that node.

4. Click and expand the Default Web Site node.

5. Find Your ProjectServer Node and expand it.

6. Underneath the ProjectServer node, find ISAPI, and click on it one time.

7. In the ISAPI folder in the pane on the right side, right-click Pjdbcomm.dll, and then click Properties.

8. On the File Security tab, click Edit in the Authentication and access control area.

9. In the Authentication Methods dialog box, click to select the Enable anonymous access check box, and then click OK.

10. Click OK to close the PJDBComm.dll Properties dialog box.

11. On the File menu in Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, click Exit.

12. Go to Start, Run, and enter IISRESET into the text box and press enter.

13. You should see several messages stating that the IIS service is being stopped, and then re-started.

Another cause for the error message "The following file(s) have been blocked by the administrator: /isapi/pjdbcomm.dll" is if you did not allow all ISAPI filters when configuring your Application Server.
