INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to publish your project plan from an earlier version of Microsoft Project, such as Microsoft Office Project 2003, to a server that is running Microsoft Office Project Server 2007.

The following steps describe how to publish a project plan from an earlier version of Project and to keep the actual work that was reported by your resources.

Note: These steps assume that you have not saved your project plan to your project server.

• 1. Before you publish a project plan from an earlier version of Project, you must verify that there are no updates that the project manager must make. To do this, follow these steps:
• a. Log on to Microsoft Office Project Web Access.
• b. In the left pane of the Project Web Access home page, click Task Updates.
• c. If updates must be made, click Accept to accept the updates, and then click Update All to write the updates to the project plan.
• 2. On the Tools menu, point to Enterprise Options, and then click Import Project to the Enterprise.
• 3. In the Open dialog box, select the project that you want to import, and then click Open.
• 4. In the left pane, click Map Resources.
• 5. In the Map Project Resources onto Enterprise Resources dialog box, verify your resources, and then click OK.
• 6. In the left pane, click Continue to Step 2.
• 7. If you want to change a resource, you can double-click the resource, and then make the changes. When you have validated the resources, click Validate Resources, and then click Continue to Step 3 in the left pane.
• 8. Click Map Task Fields.
• 9. In the Map Custom Fields dialog box, select your fields if you have fields to map, and then click OK.
• 10. In the left pane, click Continue to Step 4.
• 11. To change tasks or to correct errors, you can double-click the task, and then make the changes that you want. In in the left pane, click Continue to Step 4.
• 12. In the left pane, click Save As.
• 13. In the Save to Project Server dialog box, type a name for your project in the Name box, and then click Save.
